Served Like a girl (1st November)

This movie was about raising awareness for woman who come back from military service and are out of jobs and become homeless. The women in this documentary enter a beauty pageant contest to raise awareness.

The way in which the documentary is filmed and touches a couple of the contestants personal life allows us to really connect with the characters.

The interview after with 2 of the characters and director allowed us to see just how much work is put into a production like this. Up to 100 hours were put into filming.

Detroit (2nd November)

This film is set during the Detroit riots in 1967 and focuses on the Algiers motel massacre focusing on the police.

The film was very touching and dramatic.

The interview with Jonny Boyega afterwards was also intriguing. He is a funny guy but, was passionate about this project. It was particularly interesting to hear about how he got to know his actual character on a personal level.
