In this project we were tasked to create a further micro macro collage made out of man made objects. I chose to focus on all three of the fourth road bridges in Scotland which cross of the firth of fourth. These bridges at some point in history have been the largest construction in Britain at the time.
The first rail bridge was built in 1882. 4,600 workers employed at a time with up to 73 employee deaths.

The second bridge was built in 1964 costing £11.5 million to build

The 3rd bridge was completed earlier this year(2017) costing £1.35 billion to build

In my collage design I am aimed to encapsulate the construction of these bridges and how they ended up. By making the images of the older bridges in black and white I hoped to show the progress of the oldest bridge to the youngest which is in colour. I also liked the idea of involving men constructing the bridges on the top line to real hammer home the man made point.

To me this image wasn't complete and although I liked the idea the bottom row being in colour made the final image feel incomplete. I also wanted to take the idea of man made further and I noticed that in all of the bridges there were a huge number of beams. I thought I could connect beams and find common parallel lines and draw lines between all the pictures. I preferred the image far more.
