Originally in this project we listened to a various number of artists and as the song played we drew what we felt or imagined. Here are three examples:

Ry Cooder
Etta James

Bernard Herrmann
This is also the image which I chose and thought I could develop the most.
Herrmann writes music for movies and musicals. The particular song we were listening too was extremely sad, as if someone had died, but often there were spurts of life. I imagined that in death the living were sad but as the soul left the body, there were good memories and happiness in the air as they reminisce about the deceased life.
When thinking about developing this image, I originally was reminded of beauty and beast, when the prince is leaning over the ill princess on a table. I though originally I could create a poster or add. Here is my initial idea.

I thought this could be a cover for a movie or book. I particularly liked how the smooth and varied lines in the picture could join up and randomly for the title. I also really liked the idea of the lines coming out of the body. It gives the idea of the soul leaving and a real sense of delicacy and beauty.
However, I still wanted to take this idea further, into more of a peace of art. Really focusing on ways in which I could replicate the random lines leaving the deceased body. In this image I combined watercolour, charcoal and sharpey to create a more interesting image. Due to my poorer photoshop skills I have not managed to really combine the image well and play with filters. However, it was a fun experimenting and overall the image has came out sophisticated and delicate, and a really obvious advancement from my original sketch.
