Chance - Change

In this project we had to identify something which has an imperfection or at least represented that. I thought that I could try to identify events through newspaper articles/headlines which represented change in humanity or mistakes. I picked events which show the imperfections of humanity, that it is only by chance that people this evil exist and they are the imperfections within humanity.

For example, Martin Luther King's assassination was an extremely significant point in time. He overall all fought for blacks civil rights. He wanted a CHANGE. I also felt that this was Chance, as the assassination showed the slight imperfection in the human race. The tyrant Kim Jong Un is a further example of imperfection and the threats he is looming over countries and china don't represent the human race accurately. The War with Germany in 1949, is obviously one humanities largest imperfections.

I used charcoal to portray messages and more meaning onto of the newspaper articles to make it more of a full artistic composition. Here are the examples and what they mean:

One of the horrors of WW2 were the concentration camps and capturing of the Jews. The Nazi's critisized the jews as imperfections of the human race. In this image the concentration camp of Auschvitz can be seen and a two starving Jews begging for their lives.

In this image I tried to portray death and destruction. I was trying to represent the terror and, even though a small chance, of the war.

This was my most successful image in terms of imagery and actual drawing. The black woman crying on the right represents pain which racism and equality is causing. The hand reaching out is Martin Luther King trying to save the black population. The chance imperfection is represented by the split in-between. This shows the damage which the shooter has done to retrieving the equality situation.
